Don't Let It Ring.

In the last few days there has been a change in policy at Ward 1's RVH (Royal Victoria Hospital) located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Today, you will be permitted to use your cell phone, Just don't let it ring. Apparently vibrate is acceptable. I suspose if you had your phone set to vibrate & it vibrated a bell on your belt, technically you would be ok. Define ring? Is gong or bong ok? Is a Star Wars saber sword sound permited? Ozzy's Paranoid? Surely Chopin's classical pieces are ok? A dog's bark? Maybe not. Were we not always led to believe the reason your cell phone was to be turned off when entering the RVH, so not to interfere with "sensitive life & death $$ hospital equipment?" We all recall almost on a daily basis stories how heart monitoring devices were scribing incorrect data producing unbelievable recovery graphs due to cell phone being turned on.

Johnson Beach Stairs

Prior to Bonnie A. taking over control of Ward 1, Mike Ramsey and the Rotary Club of Barrie made a fabulous contribution building an elaborate, solid staircase from the northshore trail to the beach area just to the right of the pavillion. It was a beautiful contribution. The people of Ward 1 thank you. http://www.flickr.com/photos/49067980@N00/2080064265/in/photostream/lightbox/

Hooray for the Rooster's Plaza

I loudly applaud the Landlord or individual who cleaned up the entire wall of graffiti at the rear of the Rooster's Plaza. The real name is East Grove Plaza i believe, but everyone in our neighbourhood calls it the Rooster's Plaza. What a difference.

The Meaning of Life

I knew one day i would find the answer. The direction i should follow. My purpose in life. I was told by my Grandmother if i were to study hard, go to class, listen to my teacher that i would find the path to my post secondary education. Today a miracle happened. Today i saw the light. My quest has been answered.

Barrie Bronx under Bonnie [BBuB]

Ward 1 has become the "Bronx" within the City of Barrie (in some respects). The mature, established, tough part of town. Yesterday, a small example, Eastview Secondary School had their entire parking lot completely overhauled. Before the construction barrie wall could be taken down Ward 1 graffiti artists displayed their talents. This is Ward 1. I would challenge any other Ward in Barrie if they have as many mailboxes, transformer boxes, traffic light switchgear boxes with as much gorgeous art as we do here in the Barrie Bronx. Actually, I think Alderwoman Bonnie Ainsworth should have "Welcome to the Barrie Bronx" entering Ward 1.

What's that Smell ? or, That's no Skunk Billy.

On August 17th 2011 at 3:30am in the morning, Ward 1 experienced a devasting blow. One of our favourite "Out-houses" was burnt to the ground. Luckily, there was no one taking a dump at that time of the morning. But, what if? Your routine "johnny-on-the-spot" fire story would have appeared in the NY times and Chicago Tribune. Kool-FM was the first to report. Firefighters wearing gas masks put out the inferno. In Ward 1, we call the site now, "ground zero". Some are saying a momument should be built to commemorate this stand alone.
Billy, that ain't no skunk. I'm pretty sure i can identify the difference between a johnny-on-the-spot on fire versus a Ward 1 Skunk. Billy that ain't no Ward 1 Skunk. Thank god, there were no fatalities, so Ward 1 in Barrie continues to be the most populated Ward in our beautiful City.
